The streets of New York City are the inspiration for New York based painter David Kapp. He paints the frenzied existence of urban life with an intense yet frugal economy of brushwork. The artist’s sweeping gestural painterly highlights and shadows nearly tilt these cityscapes, peopled with pedestrians or automobiles, into abstraction.

David Kapp has had over twenty-five solo exhibitions throughout the US. Kapp is the recipient of two American Academy & National Institute of Arts and Letters awards, as well as the Hassam Purchase Prize and the Rosenthal Foundation award. His works  are in the collections of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The National Academy Museum, Colby Museum of Art, Maine and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, TX.
